Starting school is a very important time for you and your child and at Sacred Heart, we aim to make this a happy experience for everyone.

Children can start school in our Reception class in the September of the academic year in which they will be five years old. At  sacred Heart we are able to admit 15 children in each academic year.

Parents wishing to apply for a place at Sacred Heart Catholic Primary need to complete

  • the North Yorkshire Online admission application which can be found here
  • a Supplementary Information Form which can be obtained from the school or school policies section for form

As an academy school responsibility for admissions lies with our governors rather than the local authority.

The time in the lead up to starting school is a great opportunity for us to get to know your child and for them to get to know us. Children not already attending school Nursery will be invited to spend some informal sessions with their new teacher and other children from the class in the summer term in order to familiarise themselves with the school environment. An information evening for our new Reception class parents is also held in the summer term.

For mid year admissions at other times of the year or for year groups other than Reception, please go through North Yorkshire admissions link (here) but we highly recommend contacting the school in the first instance for a visit.

Nursery Admission

Sacred Heart Nursery admits children shortly after their 3rd birthday.  Whenever possible. Baptised Catholic children will always be given first priority for admittance, however non-Catholic children, or children of parents who wish their child to gain from our Nursery ethos, are welcome and admitted in the same order as our School Admission Policy.

Please note: admission to Nursery does not automatically guarantee admission into School.

We have an excellent Nursery team, who liaise closely with you to give children the best possible preparation for entering primary school.

If you would like to visit All Saints and see us in action, please contact us on 01609 780971 to arrange an appointment.

For school admissions information and access to an electronic application form, please use this link to visit the School Admissions page of the North Yorkshire County Council website.
